What Is a SETA in South Africa?

A Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) is a body established under the Skills Development framework to improve workforce skills within a specific industry or economic sector.

SETAs work with employers, education providers, government structures, and training institutions to support:

Learnerships
Internships
Bursaries
Apprenticeships
Skills programmes
Workplace-based training

Their role is to help bridge the gap between education and employment while responding to scarce and in-demand skills in the economy.
